Oslo, 1997. Eirik Halvorsen, an auditor at Norway’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reopens the file of Gunnar Celian, a boy who vanished years earlier and was swallowed by a blame manufactured against his parents.

An overlooked consular note leads him to Santa Teresa, Peru, where archaeologist Diana Baird discovered an impossible site beneath the mountain in 1990. Among soldiers, officials and inconvenient witnesses, the truth had been turned into procedure.
